Red Mountain Resort
Western Canada’s original and oldest ski resort, Red Mountain Resort and Rossland have been raising and hosting champions for over 70 years. Home mountain to the Red Mountain Racers, Nancy Greene, Felix Belcyx, Kerrin Lee-Gartner and countless other national team and world cup ski stars, the steep slopes, consistent snowfall, high altitude and small town atmosphere have produced more national team ski racers than any other ski area in Canada.
Featuring two FIS homologated runs for Alpine Skiing’ Giant Slalom and Slalom and Snowboarding’s Parallel Giant Slalom and GS on Red Mountain Resort proper’s "Face of Red" and "Back Trail.” Both competition runs are fully wired for timing with multiple points for varying length of courses. Each run features 250 meters of consistently pitched vertical. Serviced directly by the historic Red Mountain Resort double chair no time is wasted getting to and from the competition/training venue between runs.
In recent years Red has added a top notch Skier and Boarder Cross course to its slopes. Finishing at the base area in a spectator friendly environment the 1km course features a winding course designed by Erik Kalacis who produced the Ski and Snowboard cross events for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Playing host to the BC Skier and Snowboard Cross Championships as well as the Canadian Snowboard and Skier Cross Championships in 2008 and 2009 the new venue has quickly developed a reputation as one of the best in BC.
Red Mountain Resort is unique among North American resorts in that it has retained a strong focus on the core principles of what makes skiing and ski racing fun and successful focussing on the skiing experience. Skiing the way skiing was meant to be, Red provides a distraction free environment for skiers to get the most out of their training time.
