Trail Memorial Centre

The Trail Memorial Centre contains the 2,108 sat Cominco Arena complete with 8 foot high glass all the way around the rink, excellent ice quality and a four sided video scoreboard system with live broadcasting capabilities. Eight dressing rooms, ample space for equipment storage and close easy access to excellent medical facilities make this facility an ideal venue for hosting international teams and training camps. Home to the Trail Smoke Eaters Junior A hockey team the Trail Memorial Centre has produced numerous hockey players and athletes that have gone on to national and international fame. With a very well sports educated local population hockey events including Smoke eaters games regularly sell out the arena. The facility has hosted many major exhibition hockey games featuring both the Canadian Men’s and Women’s National Teams, the Soviet National, Red Army and Junior national teams and the Montreal Canadiens. In addition, the facility recently hosted the Hockey Canada 2007 World Junior A Challenge which featured the Under 19 National Teams from Russia, Canada, Germany, The USA and Belarus. This event ran for a total of 11 days and included training camps, several exhibition games and the seven day, twelve game tournament. The Junior A’s were a huge success and as a result Hockey Canada has now endorsed the City of Trail as a pre-competition training location for international teams for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
